I'm Daan Bakboord. I help mid-market organizations make better decisions about their data. This ranges from choosing the right platform to building the governance and foundations needed to make it work.
I've worked in Data and Analytics for more than 20 years. Long enough to see technologies come and go, architectures become fashionable, and supposedly simple data projects become unnecessarily complicated.
That experience has shaped how I work: Start with the business. Keep the architecture as simple as possible. And make technology fit the organization, not the other way around.

20+ Years in Data
My career in data started in the early 2000s with Predictive Maintenance.
That’s where I first saw what good use of data could accomplish. Data wasn’t interesting because of the database, dashboard, or algorithm behind it. It was interesting because it helped someone make a better decision before something went wrong.
That principle has stayed with me ever since.
Over the following years, I worked on Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing projects across organizations ranging from local government to multinationals. I specialized in Oracle Analytics and built an international network around that ecosystem.
Then the industry began moving toward the Cloud.
I started working with Snowflake in 2017 and became a Snowflake Data Superhero in 2018. I’ve remained part of the program since, contributing to and learning from an international community of data practitioners.
The technology has changed enormously since I started.
The need to turn complex data into understandable, actionable information hasn’t.
How I Work
Good consulting should reduce complexity, not introduce more of it.
Simple beats complex.
If two approaches solve the same problem, I'll usually recommend the one with fewer moving parts.
Data should lead to decisions.
A technically perfect platform has little value if people can't use it to make better, faster, smarter decisions.
Knowledge should be shared.
Good consulting should increase your organization's capabilities, not its dependency on consultants.
Consulting without the Theatre
I’m not interested in selling transformation for transformation’s sake.
Sometimes an organization needs a new platform. Sometimes it needs better governance. Sometimes the architecture is fine and the real problem lies somewhere else.
My role is to help you figure out which problem is actually worth solving, and then help you solve it.
Through DaAnalytics, I work directly with mid-market companies on focused Snowflake, cloud BI, data platform, and governance engagements.
As a Consulting Partner at Bravinci, I also contribute strategic intelligence and data governance expertise while helping develop and grow the company.

I’m a father and partner who values balance.
Outside work, you’ll find me playing football or spending time with family and friends.
